Sonny Vaughan Electrical Ltd has proudly delivered electrical installation and maintenance services at The Royal Pier, Aberystwyth for over a decade. During this time, The Royal Pier has developed significantly to meet the ever-changing demand of the tourism market in Aberystwyth, with our team supporting this growth through reliable and adaptable electrical solutions.

The Royal Pier is one of the most notable landmarks in Aberystwyth, attracting a large number of visitors every year. Under the management of Lee Price, the vision has been to create a venue where leisure, dining and entertainment come together all under one roof. the electrical capacity for the building is huge. With multiple businesses and entertainment areas operating within the building, the site’s electrical demand is significant. Ensuring sufficient capacity, safety and reliability is therefore essential to its day-to-day operation.

Sonny Vaughan Electrical has played a key role in a number of refurbishments across the site, with works still on-going. One of the most visually impactful lighting installations formed part of the refurbished outdoor seating area, appropriately named ‘The Pier Garden’. To create an aesthetically pleasing setting we installed external electrical feeds to power decorative trees with LED lighting. This complemented the setting overlooking Aberystwyth’s seafront. The weatherproof, energy-efficient LED lighting provided a durable solution for the exposed seafront environment while creating a distinctive visual feature designed to complement the Pier Garden and its views across Aberystwyth’s seafront.

Within the Pier itself, Lee and his team had plans to transform individual areas into sub-businesses including:

Upstairs at The Pier
The Pier Arcade and Snooker Room

The refurbishment required a full re-wire of the Inn on Pier in which we ran all wires for the later installation of new light fittings, sockets and switches. Further to this, we wired the new Fish and Chip bar from scratch, supporting its transition from a video rental store. This included a full first and second fix with the installation of fire alarms, CCTV, fixtures and fittings and a distribution board. Throughout the project, we worked closely with the team to ensure all electrical installations aligned with the Pier’s designs and long-term plans.

In addition to major refurbishment works, Sonny Vaughan Electrical continues to provide maintenance services across all areas of the Royal Pier and enjoy working closely with Lee and his team. From the installation of floor sockets to provide power to the shuffleboard located in the middle of the snooker room, to calibrating interactive dart boards in the Billiards bar, the range of work highlights our ability to support complex, multi-use venues and adapt to evolving functional needs.
