Computer Science Department

Sonny Vaughan Electrical completed a full electrical refurbishment of the Computer Science Department within the Llandinam Building at Aberystwyth University. Delivered over two months in 2025, the project involved upgrading the department’s electrical infrastructure to support three modern computer rooms, staff facilities and the department’s technology requirements.

Working alongside other contractors and to a demanding programme, our team completed the electrical installation, testing and associated works while coordinating closely with the wider refurbishment. The project required careful planning, sufficient resourcing and flexibility to ensure works remained on programme.

This refurbishment consisted of:

The removal of existing electrics
Installation of containment
Professional running of cables
Installation and maintenance of data cabinet
Full first fix
Full second fix
Installation of fixtures and fittings
Installation of emergency lighting
Installation of fuse boards
Providing power to individual computer desks
Full electrical testing
Electrical labeling

The completed refurbishment transformed the department to provide three fully functioning student computer rooms, upgraded staff facilities and an improved electrical and data infrastructure. The works included new lighting, dedicated power supplies to computer workstations and upgrades to the data cabinet and associated systems, creating a modern environment designed to support the department’s day-to-day teaching and technology requirements.

The project was delivered alongside Hesden Plumbing and Heating, and John’s Construction LTD, with all contractors working together to complete the refurbishment successfully.
