Full Electrical Refurbishment

Sonny Vaughan Electrical completed a major electrical refurbishment at Park Lodge Hotel (Llety Parc) in Aberystwyth as part of the hotel’s wider modernisation project. The works included upgrades to bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas and the restaurant, alongside improvements to the hotel’s electrical and data infrastructure. With the refurbishment expanding significantly during the project, careful planning, communication and coordination with the other contractors on site were essential to keep the electrical works progressing to programme.

First aiming to upgrade twelve of the 37 bedrooms, COVID-19 presented the opportunity for the Park Lodge to carry out a full refurbishment of all bedrooms, kitchen, restaurant and welcome area. This significantly increased the demand for electrical services, requiring a proactive and carefully managed approach from our team. With a large number of rooms and shared facilities to upgrade, it was vital that communication with Morgans Construction was well maintained and all timescales were adhered to.

As part of the refurbishment, all rooms were stripped back, allowing us to carry out a partial rewires to adapt and reposition cabling in preparation for the installation of new fixtures and fittings. This included the installation of modern round bulkhead bathroom lights, recessed lighting above bathroom mirrors and contemporary sockets and switches, all selected to complement the hotel’s modern interior design.

In addition to the partial rewire, we were required to add CAT5 cable to provide Ethernet to televisions in each room. This coincided with the hotel’s plans to provide a more personalised experienced for customers by displaying branded messaging on the TVs as soon as the customer walked through the door. This not only enhanced the guest’s journey but also provided a reliable and cost-effective solution for high-speed data transfer.

The ground-floor restaurant also underwent a complete transformation, with designs drawn by Design House Wales. The brief was to create a warm, modern environment achieved through the installation of LED strip and wall lighting. Through careful electrical design and discreet installation, we helped Park Lodge create an inviting and clean atmosphere, while also improving energy-efficiency and reducing long-term running costs.

Our previous experience in carrying out hospitality upgrades allowed for efficient installations, with minimal disruption. This provided Park Lodge with a cost-effective and future-ready electrical solution that supported the hotel’s long term goals and needs.
